ABOUT US.

Global Citizenship New Zealand (GCNZ) was founded by Chris Gallavin and Libby Giles, on a deep commitment

to transforming education for a better world. When the most educated people and countries in the world are

causing the most damage, it’s time to do education differently. As a key tool in the response to contemporary

challenges, global citizenship education (GCED) provides a conceptual lens and pathway to change the way we

think and learn. GCED equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and values to flourish in a complex,

interconnected world. GCNZ’s vision is to nurture lifelong learners to thrive - to think critically, act responsibly,

and live well. The goal is to provide equitable access to values-based education that is relevant now and that

fulfils local and international obligations. To that end, GCNZ is developing a progression of courses and

qualifications under the name, UniU.
